A look at the 2018 Subaru BRZ

The 2018 Subaru BRZ is a fun to drive sporty coupe that is designed to deliver a thrilling ride for those performance enthusiasts. The BRZ is Subaru’s only rear wheel drive vehicle. In 2017 the BRZ received significant performance enhancements and in 2018 Subaru has made significant enhancements to the comfort and convenience. The updates for 2018 are focused around enhancing the fundamental sports car experience.

The Subaru BRZ is powered by a 2.0-liter Boxer engine, six-speed close-ratio manual transmission and Torsen limited-slip differential. The 2.0-liter Boxer engine produces 205-horsepower with 156 lb-ft of torque. Six-speed manual transmission is standard on the BRZ, but the Limited trim has an option for an automatic transmission. The 2.0-liter Boxer engine provides power and efficiency with an impressive fuel economy of 24city/33 highway. Standard vehicle stability control and traction control systems help keep the BRZ under control on the road.

Some of the comfort and quality improvements for the 2018 BRZ include 2+2 seating and fold-down rear seatback to enhance practicality and comfort. All BRZ models come standard with automatic headlight activation and one touch lane changer turn signal. Both manual and automatic models receive a high-grade leather shift handle as standard equipment.

Performance Package

Subaru offers a Performance Package for drivers who demand even more from a sports car. The Performance Package is available on the Limited trim with the manual transmission. The brake system is upgraded to Brembo four-piston calipers and rotors on the front and dual- piston calipers and rotors on the rear. SACHS Performance shock absorbers are added to all four corners for improved ride and corning stability. Also included in the package are unique 17- in x 7.5-in black aluminum alloy wheels.

Two Trim Levels: Premium and Limited

Subaru offers the 2018 BRZ in Premium and Limited trims. The interior of the BRZ has been enhanced by black upholstery with contrasting red stitching adorned throughout the cabin. It also includes leather-trimmed door panels, center dash, shifter boot and parking brake lever. The leather-wrapped steering wheel comes standard with control switches for audio, cruise control and Bluetooth.  One major upgrade is the Subaru Starlink 6.2” infotainment system. The standard multimedia system offers smartphone integration with Pandora, Aha, iHeart Radio and Stitcher. Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity and audio streaming are also available.
