The All-New 2022 Subaru WRX

The Next Generation of The Iconic Rally Champion

Introducing the fifth-generation 2022 Subaru WRX. From rally championships to action movies, no other car can match legendary WRX performance. It is that proven motorsports legacy makes the WRX the adrenaline-packed choice for enthusiasts across the Puget Sound.

What makes Subaru WRX a legend in its own right?

Design

Designed as a sport sedan, with flared fenders and aggressive front grille, there's no confusing the WRX for a mild-mannered commuter car. A front hood scoop emphasizes WRX low and wide look, while feeding air to the 271- hp 2.4L turbocharged Boxer® engine. Aluminum front fenders help reduce weight, enhancing handling and performance. A stiffer frame and new rear stabilizer bar now mounted directly to the WRX body results in roll rate reduction and crisper handling when push the WRX around corners. And integrated body-color rear spoiler adds to the numerous aerodynamic enhancements.

Performance

Subaru WRX has come to play. The turbocharged 2.4L BOXER® 4-cyclinder engine cranks out 271-hp and 258- lb-ft of torque spread out over a broader torque for improved responsiveness. Having that extra punch of power as the engine comes up on boost makes it easy to merge and dart through traffic on the surface streets or merging on the freeway.

A standard 6-speed manual transmission makes WRX is one of the few performance cars still sold with three pedals. WRX GT gets a standard 8-speed Subaru Performance automatic transmission offers faster upshifts and downshifts, that can quickly respond under braking and faster coming out of corners. And WRX GT models feature electronically controlled dampers that can tailor the dynamic performance to the driver's preferences.

Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive

Only Subaru offers standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive for superb traction all year round, in whatever road conditions Mother Nature throws your way. The design of the system is rooted in its horizontally-opposed engines, which provide a lower center of gravity for better traction and performance. Within the system, there is standard Active Torque Split, which distributes power between the two axles depending on actual throttle response. Active Torque Vectoring is an enhancement on the standard Vehicle Dynamics Control stability and traction control system, allowing for more neutral cornering, even on the track.

In all, the Subaru WRX all-wheel-drive system can help make you a track or rallycross star, and an all-around weather warrior when the going gets rough.

Cabin Design

WRX drivers will love the updates inside too. A stylish black interior with bold red stitching and carbon fiber accents reinforce the performance messaging. A flat-bottomed leather-wrapped steering wheels features audio; voice recognition and EyeSight controls speak to the driver-oriented nature of Subaru WRX. WRX seats five, with 60/40-split-folding rear seats and plenty of usable trunk space behind the rear seats.

Technology

Front and center inside the WRX is an all-new tablet-style SUBARU STARLINK® 11.6-inch Multimedia Plus touchscreen information display with split-screen capabilities, a Subaru first. STARLINK® is how a Subaru driver communicates, stays informed, and entertained. It is a hub of connected services, now including HVAC, smartphone connections to utilize apps, such as Aha and Pandora. Plus, STARLINK offers enhanced service offered by SiriusXM, including real-time traffic reporting.

Safety

Subaru vehicles are built to be safe and secure and WRX is no exception. It all starts with EyeSight, the most advanced driver assistance technology in the automotive industry. And EyeSight is one of the highest-rated active safety systems according to the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety. EyeSight uses stereo cameras to sense the road ahead enabling such features as Lane Departure Prevention and Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering. Available Automatic Emergency Steering works in conjunction with Pre-Collusion braking to help avoid a collision at speeds under 50 mph.
