The 2023 WRX comes with a choice of two horizontally opposed turbocharged engines. Having a turbocharger attached to either WRX model offers great benefits, the punch of power as the engine comes up on boost makes it easy to merge and dart through traffic on the surface streets or merging on the freeway.

WRX models get a 2.0 liter turbocharged and intercooled four-cylinder engine with 268 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It provides supreme power for anything it is asked to do while returning good fuel economy – up to 27 MPG on the highway. WRX STI models have the 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 305 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque for extreme power.

The horizontal layout of the Boxer® Engine allows for better balance and less vibration between pistons, which lets the engine perform more efficiently and effectively, as can be seen in the stats above. Gearheads will tell you working on a Boxer® Engine is more like working on an aircraft engine. It is made to soar!

Both engines are connected to a six-speed manual transmission. A Sport Lineartronic® CVT transmission with SI-Drive is available on the WRX only.

Track-Tuned Suspension allows for aggressive spring and damper rates. Double-wishbone rear suspension with pillow ball bushings, large front and rear anti-roll bars, wide tires, and rigid unibody with reinforced suspension brings the motorsport feel and the most responsive handling to the grip of your hands on the steering wheel. Vehicle Dynamics Control with Active Torque and Electric power steering further sharpens cornering and actively reduces understeer and gives instantaneous response to your command.

6-Piston Front and 2-Piston Rear Brembo Brakes are found on all WRX STI models. The easily recognizable yellow-finished monoblock calipers and large cross-drilled rotors give WRX very responsive braking with good feel and fade resistance.

SYMMETRICAL ALL-WHEEL DRIVE

Only Subaru offers standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive for superb traction all year round. The design of the system is rooted in its horizontally-opposed engines, which provide a lower center of gravity for better traction and performance. The standard Active Torque Split contributes to the AWD by also distributing power between the two axles depending on actual throttle response. Active Torque Vectoring is an enhancement on the standard Vehicle Dynamics Control stability and traction control system. It allows for more neutral cornering, even on the track.

WRX STI models offer the further enhancement of the new Multi-Mode Driver Controlled Center Differential providing optimum differential control for improved vehicle cornering, stability, and handling. In all, the all-wheel-drive system can not only make you a track or rallycross star, but a winter warrior when the going gets tough.

Foremost, the WRX is designed as a sports sedan, offering the perfect balance of raw power, precision steering, maximum capacity and capability for its dedicated owners. It is also designed for ultimate excitement – with its body kit and aggressive styling details. The WRX STi adds to this sports sedan design with its big rear spoiler and aluminum hood with a large air intercooler intake scoop on top. 

All WRX STI models have standard Lightweight 19-inch sleek alloy wheels in a Y-shaped spoke design that will definitely turn heads. 

The WRX cabin feels more like a cockpit for you to rocket out onto the road in. The instrument panel is well laid out and all controls are easily accessible, whether handsfree or not. A clean, driver-focused instrument cluster, superb controls, and great visibility enhance the overall driving experience. Contrast stitching, accents, multiple interior color options and available footwell illumination kit makes you feel like you are preparing for take-off. WRX seats five, with 60/40-split-folding rear seats and 12.0 cubic feet of trunk space behind the rear seats. WRX STI and WRX STI LIMITED can enjoy Recaro Performance Seats with 8 way power driver’s adjustment and ergonomic comfort.

STARLINK is how a Subaru driver communicates, stays informed, and entertains. It is a hub of connected services, now including smartphone connections to utilize apps, such as Aha and Pandora. Plus, STARLINK offers enhanced service offered by SiriusXM, including real-time traffic reporting. Certain trim levels will include Starlink Safety Plus and Security Plus packages that report accident information and stolen vehicle tracking. Depending on trim, the multimedia touch screen measures 6.2 or 7.0 inches.

The Premium Audio Package available on select trims, includes a Harman Kardon® premium audio system for a superior sound experience with clearer, crisper, more dynamic sound through Harman’s ClariFi™ Technology that restores audio fidelity to a maximum. The eight-channel class-D amplifier offers high-performance acoustics with powerful 432 watts for maximizing those jam sessions and epic private concerts while you rally down the highway and drift through the turns.
