How many IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK Awards did Subaru earn for 2022?

In the modern automotive industry, safety is one of if not the most important aspect of any vehicle. It’s important to keep drivers and passengers alike as safe as possible within the vehicle, but also to keep pedestrians and inhabitants of other vehicles on the road safe as well. That’s why so many manufacturers throughout the industry, including Subaru itself, pride themselves on the safety of their vehicles. And when it comes to recognizing the safety of a vehicle, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) is one of the most respected. So, now that 2023 is upon us, how many IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK awards did Subaru win for 2022?

TOP SAFETY PICK Winners

In order for a vehicle to win itself a TOP SAFETY PICK designation, it must receive certain ratings in the different areas that the IIHS examines. This includes a ‘Good’ rating in each of the six crashworthiness evaluations the organization puts it through, as well as a rating of ‘Good’ or ‘Acceptable’ for headlights and either ‘Advanced’ or ‘Superior’ ratings for available front crash prevention technologies. The following two vehicles were recognized as TOP SAFETY PICK winners for 2022:

• Subaru Crosstrek when equipped with EyeSight and specific headlights
  • This is the eleventh consecutive year the Crosstrek has been recognized as a TSP
• Subaru Impreza 5-door when equipped with EyeSight and specific headlights
  • This is the fifteenth consecutive year the Impreza 5-door has been recognized as a TSP

TOP SAFETY PICK+ Winners

In addition, a vehicle can be recognized even further by receiving the TOP SAFETY PICK+ designation. A vehicle earns the extra “PLUS” to its name by coming exclusively with headlights that receive either a ‘Good’ or ‘Acceptable’ rating. The following vehicles were recognized as TOP SAFETY PICK+ winners for 2022:

• Subaru Ascent
  • This is the fifth year the Ascent has been recognized as a TSP
• Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid
  • This is the fourth year the Crosstrek Hybrid has been recognized as a TSP+
• Subaru Legacy
  • This is the seventeenth year the Legacy has been recognized as a TSP
• Subaru Outback
  • This is the fourteenth year the Outback has been recognized as a TSP
