Trekking in the Subaru Crosstrek, Forester, and Outback

If you’re familiar with the Subaru brand, then chances are you already know that the Crosstrek, Forester, and Outback are some of the manufacturer’s best-selling vehicles every single year. What you may not know, however, is which one best suits you and your needs. As one would imagine, each vehicle has its own distinctive advantages and disadvantages over its siblings. While keeping track of all these details can be a job within itself, you don’t need to worry about that. Why? Because our team at Rairdon’s Subaru of Auburn has got you covered.
Comparing Options for Your Next Getaway or Adventure
Before we begin comparing all the options for your next getaway or adventure, please note that these are all completely separate and unique vehicles. Additionally, for our intents and purposes today, we are simply providing a quick and convenient outline of some of the key distinctions between these vehicles. In other words, in order to fully understand all of the various differences between them—as well as the individual trim levels of each vehicle—we encourage all interested parties to contact our team at Rairdon’s Subaru of Auburn. That way, we can provide you with the answers that you’re looking for as soon as possible.

Subaru Crosstrek
The most compact crossover of the Subaru family, the Crosstrek is an excellent choice for many consumers, especially those who value fuel economy, convenience, and simplicity. For instance, tight streets and parking spots are a whole lot easier in a Subaru Crosstrek; and don’t even get us started on parallel parking! What’s more, despite its smaller size, the Crosstrek can still provide its owners with up to 55.3 cubic feet of cargo space! Last but not least, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the 2023 Crosstrek can achieve up to 27 miles per gallon in the city and 33 miles per gallon on the highway.

Subaru Forester
As impressive as the Crosstrek is, some people simply need more space. For them, we recommend the Subaru Forester. With a maximum cargo space of up to 76.1 cubic feet, the Forester can fit way more gear, accessories, and luggage than the Crosstrek. Need to bring even more stuff? No worries! When properly equipped, the 2023 Subaru Forester can tow up to 1,500 pounds behind it. As if that wasn’t enough, the Forester accomplishes all of this while almost matching the fuel economy ratings of the Crosstrek. According to the EPA, the 2023 Forester earns up to 26 miles per gallon in the city and 33 miles per gallon on the highway.

Subaru Outback
The granddaddy of them all, with nearly 30 years of experience to its name, the Subaru Outback remains one of the most unique vehicles on the road today. Unlike the Crosstrek and Forester, the Outback is a wagon; meaning it’s lower to the ground and essentially feels more like driving a large sedan rather than an SUV. Additionally, the Outback and Forester share the same engine and fuel economy ratings for the 2023 production year. What they don’t share, however, are cargo space and towing capacity. Not only can the 2023 Subaru Outback accommodate up to 75.7 cubic feet of cargo, but it can also tow up to 3,500 pounds! Just be sure that the Outback is properly equipped before you begin your travels, adventures, etc.
