How did the team win?
The Oregon Trail Rally, as we mentioned, is a three-day event with 19 stages in total. The event kicked off on a Friday evening at Portland International Raceway in front of a live crowd. By the end of the evening the Subaru Motorsports USA team – which in this race included drivers Brandon Semenuk and Keaton Williams – had achieved a commanding lead of 28.4 seconds through the first two stages.
On Saturday, the next eight stages of the event were carried out. These stages, three through ten, included some very dusty off-road terrain that helped the duo keep up their lead all day long despite the heat. On Sunday, the team kept things up to start with, overcoming stages 11 and 12 with relative ease. But stage 13 started to get rough, not just on the drivers, but on their Subaru WRX STI as well. After stage 18, the drivers brought the vehicle in to prepare for the final stage, discovering damage to a bumper and a fender. But that didn’t keep the pair from finishing in first place, the position they kept throughout the entire day.
More Information on the ARA Championship
If you’re a Subaru Motorsports USA enthusiast, then you might already know this exciting fact. But this marks the fourth victory for the duo in a row this championship, which means Semenuk and Williams have swept the entire championship series to this point as this was the fourth event. We’ll be keeping our eyes glued to the ARA Championship moving forward to continue cheering on the Subaru team.
While the race-inspired STI trim level is no longer available, you can still get your hands on a Subaru WRX if you’d like to get behind the wheel of a vehicle similar to the championship-winning model. Just give us a call for details!
